01) EXT. SMALL COUNTRY COTTAGE/SHACK - EVENING
The air is calm and still, the light is slowly draining from the day. The cottage small and humble sits in the woodland, with a small fire outside the door. Through a fogged window the shape of a person can be seen. The window fogs more and so intensely that it becomes a sheet of white.

02) EXT. WOODS - NIGHT
TED a middle aged man walks alone UP a narrow foot trail holding a torch before him. At points he struggles to pull himself through the stillness of the trees on the frost covered ground.

A loose rock slides out under Ted’s foot

Ted continues walking the path of his lonely and solemn journey. Alongside the path that he walks is a field seemingly empty. He walks on stopping abruptly seeing a group of ten horses in a field.

As Ted looks on at the calm, beautiful, nobility of the horses he becomes intensely fascinated.
He puts out a hand and strokes the nose of one of the horses

An old man’s hand hangs in the air miming the action of stroking the horse

Ted leaves the horses and walks on

08) EXT. COUNTRY POND - EARLY MORNING, LOW LIGHT
As the sun begins to rise in the sky Ted halts his journey once again. Looking into the pleasant waters at his refection, only the sound of the waters currents are heard. The reflection of a bird is seen flying over head a small ripple emerges in the water.

As the sun quickly brings light the sounds of nature become clear and strong.

Ted stands alone overlooking the beauty before him he slowly turns. A look of surprise appears on his face as if waking from a bad dream.

Upon seeing the horses once again ted sighs a breath of relief. Realising that it was not a dream, drawing strength from the animals, he once again looks on with amazement.
